Welcome to your Eurovision Song Contest.
This was the fifteenth edition of the Yourovision Song Contest, to be held in Tampere, after Jannika B won the previous edition, bringing the contest back to its first-ever host country for the first time since the first edition.
Although no national finals had been used to directly choose the participants of this edition, the home entry, for Finland, was chosen indirectly, through Yourovision Battle Royale, in which it placed second when competing to participate in the previous edition.
Following a surprising number of withdrawals, this edition was the smallest since the fifth edition, with no more than thirteen entries. Factoring in the previous winner sending two songs, this marked the second time that Finland has hosted an edition of the contest with only twelve participating users.
Amongst the unexpected withdrawals were Yourovision mainstays Ukraine (having been present for every edition since the seventh), Luxembourg (present since the sixth edition), Spain (who débuted in the first edition and missed only the second since then) and Australia (who had maintained a perfect record of attendance since the second edition).
The eventual winner was the United Kingdom, marking its third victory in the contest-- the first time any participant has won more than twice-- as well as the first time the contest has been won by a male-led act, and by an act with a featured artist, and the second time a returning artist has won the contest. Coincidentally, this is also Demi Lovato's only participation, out of her three appearances, that has not ended in disqualification.
Edition 15 - Tampere - Dreams Come True[]
The fifteenth edition of the contest was held in the city of Tampere, in Finland, chosen because of its status as the most densely-populated inland Nordic city. This was the first time since the contest's inception that Finland hosted the show, which came off the back of the contest's first ever consecutive win. The slogan of this edition was "Dreams Come True", not to resonate with the contest's recent successes, but to highlight the power to achieve stems from believing, and that if you want to make something happen, it can be done.
The dates for the fifteenth edition were:
Participation deadline/Voting begins: 7th February, 2015
Voting deadline: 25th February, 2015
Grand Final: 26th February, 2015
