Welcome to your Eurovision Song Contest.
This was the thirteenth edition of the Yourovision Song Contest, held in Luxembourg, following Lisa Lois' victory in the twelfth edition in Newcastle.
This edition saw the return of four highly successful Yourovision artists: Bentley Jones, who achieved 5th place overall in the eighth edition, after placing 4th in the semi-finals; Malú and Lorde, last seen in the sixth and ninth editions respectively, both of whom achieved third place (with an additional 4th place under Lorde's belt, also from the sixth edition); and Kelly Clarkson, the very first winner of the contest, now representing her native US America, instead of Greece.
Furthermore, this contest featured the return of several countries who had, up until this point, only taken part once before withdrawing-- namely, Cyprus, from the fifth edition; Iran, from the seventh edition; and Kazakhstan, from the eleventh edition.
The final result yielded several new Yourovision records. The winner, New Zealand, gained 108 points, beating the previous record of 102. Additionally, they received 5 sets of 12 points, beating the previous record of 4. Hungary, who finished in second place, also broke the record for highest percentage of sets of 10 points received. This was also the first time in the history of the contest that a returning artist won.
Edition 13 - Luxembourg - Ignite![]
The thirteenth edition of the Yourovision Song Contest was held in Luxembourg, for the second time, also marking the first time that the contest has been held in not only the same country more than once, but also the same city. The slogan of this edition was "Ignite!", stylised with an exclamation mark, to serve as an inspirational message, taken from the philosophy of the humble firework, that the smallest spark can push anyone into pursuing something difficult, and, while it might be a difficult climb, it will always be worthwhile in the end.
The dates for the thirteenth edition were:
Participation deadline/Voting begins: 8th November, 2014
Voting deadline: 21st November, 2014
Grand Final: 22nd November, 2014
