The Eurovision Burgundy Song Contest 2020 was planned to be the 49th edition of the World Eurovision Singer Competition. The contest would have taken place in Limerick, Ireland, following the country's victory at the 2019 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with the song "Hold Me Now" performed by Aurora. This would have been the second time that the Ireland hosted the contest, the last edition having been the 1990 contest. The contest would have been held at Thomond Park.
It was originally scheduled to consist of two semifinals on 14 and 16 April, and a final on 18 April 2020. Forty-one countries would have participated in the contest Bulgaria and Ukraine would have returned after their absences from the 2019 contest, while Hungary and Montenegro had confirmed their non-participation after taking part in the previous edition. All forty-one competing artists and songs were confirmed by the relevant broadcasters by early March 2020.

The City
Limerick is located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. With a population of 94,192 at the 2016 census,Limerick is the third-most populous urban area in the state, and the fourth-most populous city on the island of Ireland. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and Abbey Rivers. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary, where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Limerick City and County Council is the local authority for the city.
Place
The place will annonced the 08 March 2020. RTÉ have annonced: "We will work on this place for making a great edition in Ireland".
Thomond Park is a stadium in Limerick in the Irish province of Munster. The stadium is owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union and has Munster Rugby, Shannon RFC and UL Bohemian RFC as tenants. Limerick FC played home games in Thomond Park from 2013 to 2015 in the League of Ireland while the Markets Field was being redeveloped. The capacity of the stadium is 25,600 following its large-scale redevelopment in 2008.
Other Site
The Eurovision Village was the official Eurovision Song Contest fan and sponsors' area during the events week. There it was possible to watch performances by local artists, as well as the live shows broadcast from the main venue. Located at the Park in Limerick, it was open from 12 to 25 April 2020.
The EuroClub was the venue for the official after-parties and private performances by contest participants. Unlike the Eurovision Village, access to the EuroClub was restricted to accredited fans, delegates, and press. It was located at Shannon Airport Hangard 2 in Limerick The "Green Carpet" event, where the contestants and their delegations are presented before the accredited press and fans, took place at English Square in central Cork on 12 April 2020 at 19:00 IDT, followed by the Opening Ceremony at the Cork Auditorium.
Format
Semi-final allocation draw
The draw that determined the semi-final allocation was held on 10 May 2018 at The hall city of Limerick. The big 6 countries were first drawn to determine in which semi-final each would country vote. The rest of the fourty-one countries were divided into six pots, based on their geographical place. Each time a country was drawn from the pot, its semi-final and half of the semi-final was determined.

Twenty-six countries will participated in the final, composed of the host country, the Big Five (China, France, Germany, Japan and United States) , and the ten best-ranked entries of each of the two semifinals. All forty-nine countries participating in the contest will vote in the final.

Eligibility for potential participation in the Eurovision Song Contest requires a national broadcaster with active EBU membership that will be able to broadcast the contest via the Eurovision network. The EBU will issue an invitation of participation in the contest to all fifty-six active members. Several countries have provisionally confirmed their participation in the contest, while information from the remaining members regarding their participation have not yet been disclosed.
