Universong 7 was the 7th edition of the Universong Contest, held during 2010 in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, after the winning of the band Nylon, with the song "Losing a friend" on the previous edition held in Motala, Sweden.

26 countries took part in this edition, with the debut of Armenia, Italy, Peru and Slovenia. Peru, at the same time, became the first Latin American country ever to take part in the Universong Contest, with a real Peruvian player resident in Italy by that time.

Malta won Universong for the first (and only so far) time. "Sail away" was surprisingly the winning song, sang by Chiara Siracusa, setting a new record of points for a winning entry, with 124 points, while leaving the great favourite for the title, Croatia in second place with Lana Jurčević and the song "Kopija", earning a total of 106 points. In third place, meanwhile Germany took 97 points for the song "Touch a new day" by Lena. The Netherlands and Romania completed the top 5 for this edition.

It's important to remark that this is the first winning ever for a microstate in the Universong Contest history, and also, there was a back-to-back winning between islands, since Malta took over the title that was held until then by Iceland. Also, in this edition, a historical player debuted: Anto, who entered Universong as the manager of the Italian delegation. He would be a part of the history of Universong, since after the USC founder Eyal gave up the main administration of the contest after the end of USC 12, Anto (together with MaxSunnyGermany) took over as the USC administrator, position held by him until now.

One of the most famous competitors ever represented the USA. Despite of the fame of its representatives Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, with the song "When you believe", they've only managed to get 15th place with only 45 points.

This edition is also famous for being one of the editions having most of past and then-future Eurovision stars in contest: Chiara from Malta (representative in ESC 1998, 2005 and 2009), Lena from Germany (later winner of 2010, and German entrant in 2011), NOX from Hungary (representatives of 2005), Anna Bergendahl (Swedish representative of ESC 2010), Hari Mata Hari (Bosnian representatives of 2006) in a duet with Croatia's Nina Badric (representative of Croatia in 2012) representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nelly Ciobanu from Moldova (representative of 2009) and Russia's Julia Savicheva (representative of 2004).
