Universong 1 was the very first edition of the Universong Contest, held in early 2010, with the participation of 16 countries, all European. The founding countries of the first Universong Contest were (in alphabetical order): Albania, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Sweden and Turkey.

The first winner of the Universong Contest was The Netherlands, represented by Anouk, with the song "For bitter or worse", earning a total of 82 points. The runner-up was Malta, represented by the group Winter Moods with the song "Marigold", earning a total of 60 points, while Serbia got third place with 54 points, thanks to the song "Insomnia" by Jelena Karleusa. The top 5 was completed by Denmark and Belgium, both with a total of 51 points.
