The World Music Contest 9, often referred to as TWMC#9, was the 8th edition of The World Music Contest. This edition held in Deerlijk after Belgium won the previous edition of this contest.
This is the first edition with three semi-finals in this contest. We had now about 40 players. The top-5 in each semi-final is qualified for the final. The draw of the Funky Loser (songs on place #6) was won by South Africa. In the final this player didn't vote so it became disqualified.
After the start of this edition one of the members noticed the song of Malaysia didn't match the theme. Normally this song had his ticket for the final but was taken out of the race.
