Ourvision Song Contest 24, often referred to as OVSC 24, was the 24th edition of Ourvision Song Contest. The contest was held in Washington after USA had won the previous edition with Owl City and the song "Fireflies". It was the first time that the United States was hosting the competition as they had never won before.
Break
The admins of Ourvision Song Contest (Kristoffer, Nikolai and Paulina) did a break for the contest between March and June.[1]
This caused some hard times with low interest, however they have told their participants that they would begin the 24th edition during the summer of 2012, keeping the winners from the national selections. By the middle of June 2012 it was confirmed that OVSC would return on June 24, 2012, one year after the contest had been created. OVSC recovered the results from 14 national selections and accepted 9 user submitted entries but claimed there were almost twice as many declined entries due to the recent changes with how entries should be properly submitted. This caused the lowest number of participants ever in an OVSC edition but with the 24th edition being uploaded to Youtube, subscribing users noticed the return of the contest and came back to submit for the 25th edition.

The only debuting country in the competition was Grenada. 15 countries which had participated in the previous edition returned for this one. Anothre 5 countries hich had previously participated in OVSC but not in the 23rd edition returned for this one.

National selections
15 selections, a new record, were supposed to be held for the 24th edition. 14 of them successfully finished, still breaking the old record. The Voice of.. Britain was never completed since the host never presented the result.
3 of the 13 songs selected through national selections (#14 USA automatically qualified) were eventually unsuccessfull to reach the final. This meant that 11 of the 13 finalists had been selected through national selections. In the final, songs selected from national selections finished on places 1-3, 5-11 and 13. The only two internally selected entries were the ones from Poland which finished 4th and from Bulgaria which finished 12th.

Returning artists
The featuring rapper Kanye West was representing Ireland back in the 14th edition of Ourvision Song Contest together with Katy Perry with the song "E.T."- Crystal Kay represented South Korea back in the 17th edition of Ourvision Song Contest with the song "Superman".
- Sylwia Grzeszczak represented Poland twice before in OVSC with the songs "Małe rzeczy" and "Sen o Przyszłości".
- Ana Nikolic was representing Serbia back in the 10th edition of Ourvision Song Contest with her song "Extaza".
Results
The entries were drawn completely random into the semifinals and into their starting positions. The voting in the semi-finals lasted for 2 days and 6 of the 11 entries qualified for the final. USA, the winners of the previous edition, automatically qualified for the final and were randomly drawn into the 3rd starting position.
