Welcome to your Eurovision Song Contest.
This is the twenty-seventh Yourovision Song Contest, held in Montreal, Canada, following their second consecutive victory in Toronto, in the preceding edition.
The eventual winner of this edition, Margaret, had previously been selected to represent her country in the inaugural edition of the contest, but was withdrawn after the contest changed hands. Upon her return nearly three years later, she would set a new record for highest-scoring winner, with 129 points, beating previous record holder Francesca Michielin's score of 126 from the twentieth edition.
Edition 27 - Montreal - Wild At Heart[]
As the previous winner's mission statement is to introduce the traditional French chanson to the Canadian mainstream, it was decided, upon their victory, that the next edition should be held in Quebec. From there, Montreal was nominated due to its capacity, and proximity to one of Quebec's finest national parks, which would go on to inspire the contest's slogan of "Wild At Heart".
The dates for this edition are:
Participation deadline/Voting begins: 14th April, 2016
Voting deadline: 28th April, 2016
